(The following is a press release issued Tuesday November 1, 2006)

Grace Media International, LLC, today announced that it would launch and operate WQBC-AM as a total Christian teaching and talk format station beginning January 2, 2006. The company will reflect the change with a new station name, “1420 AM The Word”.

Michael F. Corley, president of GMI, the parent company of WQBC, comments, "The times in which live have reached an urgent and desperate point, making very clear that there is a definite need for a direct and deliberate presentation of the Gospel message, and WQBC is committing to utilizing all that we have and all that we are, to proclaiming the truth of Christ to our listening area. WQBC already has set a high standard of excellence and its strong Christian commitment and convictions are a firm foundation for the quality ministry programming that we will be providing.”

WQBC 1420 AM Radio will be offering a programming schedule that will include such trusted ministries as those of Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Charles Stanley, Dr. Adrian Rogers, Dr. John Hagee, Dr. Albert Mohler, Dr. John Ankerberg and Dr. J. Vernon McGee, as well as nationally known bible teacher Beth Moore. The new schedule will also include a greater variety of Christian music as well as national and international news from the Salem Radio Network.

The station’s flagship program The Mike Corley Program will be moving to a new time slot, taking over the 12noon to 2pm weekdays position. The broadcast will continue to address compelling and controversial issues, all from a distinct biblical Christian worldview. Corley comments, “I am excited about the move of the program and the opportunity to reach a new segment of the audience that may have not heard the program before.”

WQBC is the oldest radio station of continual operations in Mississippi having started in 1927 and has been recognized nationally by such organizations as Focus on the Family, American Family Association, NASA and many others.
